Efterklang take-over: Leaves, Liima, films – More Music – Brugge April 2016

December 10, 2015 by Rasmus

Leaves photos by Mathias Løvgren Bojesen

More Music! festival has dedicated a whole day of their program to Efterklang.

Come and join us in Brugge, Belgium on April 8th 2016.

They are calling it REVERBERATIONS: An Evening with Efterklang.

We are bringing the entire LEAVES team for a concert version performance of the opera that we co-composed with Karsten Fundal.

Our other band Liima, that we share with Tatu Rönkkö, will also be performing and there will be screenings of the films An Island (by Vincent Moon & Efterklang) and The Ghost of Piramida (by Andread Koefoed & Efterklang).

LEAVES premiered at Copenhagen Opera Festival July 2015 in co-production with Sort/Hvid. The opera is composed by Karsten Fundal and Efterklang and features English lyrics by Ursula Andkjær Olsen. All 16 original performances took place in a abandoned hospital / cold-war bunker and were completely sold-out.

The performance at More Music will be a concert version of Leaves, with the same team of singers and musicians from the Copenhagen performances.

Singers: Lisbeth Balslev (soprano) – Morten Grove Frandsen (counter tenor) – Katinka Fogh Vindelev (soprano) – Nicolai Elsberg (bass) – Casper Clausen (Efterklang)

Musicians: Mads Brauer (electronics, Efterklang) – Rasmus Stolberg (bass, Efterklang) – Bjarke Mogensen (accordion) – Jenny Lüning (viola) – Josefine Weber (viola) – Marie Louise Lind (cello) – Josefine Opsahl (cello) – Ying-Hsueh Chen (percussion) – Sara Nigard Rosendal (percussion) – Michael Min Knudsen (organ)

When Liima played at Le Guess Who? a few weeks ago they also recorded a session for 3VOOR12.

Watch them perform ‘Amerika’, ‘Your Heart’ and ‘Trains in the Dark’ via YouTube:

Last day with Private-Public Screenings, Today!

March 31, 2011 by Barnabas

In January 2011, when we introduced the Private-Public Screening idea, as part of the AN ISLAND film release, we had no idea, what to expect. Over all we were hoping for around 200 Private-Public Screenings, during February & March, the period that we’d put aside for this experiment.

Now here we are on March 31st, the final day of the Private-Public Screenings project, with more than sixty screenings just on this very day. Everywhere from Beijing, China, over Mårslev, Denmark to Bogotá, Columbia, and a total of 1178 Private-Public Screenings during these past 2 months. It has been incredible to witness how the Private-Public Screening idea & the AN ISLAND film itself have been taking off and taken in by so many lovely people. We’ve received so much positive feedback and love during the past month, and even gained a gigantic collection of group photos from screenings all over the world (a few of them attached here).

THANK YOU ALL for welcoming Private-Public Screenings & AN ISLAND!

Very soon we will inform you about the future plans for the film. Please consider signing up for the newsletter if you wish to hear about these plans. And if you haven’t seen the film yet and is dying to do so, then check Twitter or Facebook tomorrow.

1000+ Private-Public Screenings of An Island!

March 16, 2011 by Rasmus

It seems like An Island has taken on a life on its own. We are simply baffled by the reception and feedback on the film. There is a lot of things to be happy about but the Private-Public Screenings project is our favorite part.

Today the counter for approved and confirmed Private-Public Screenings of An Island says 1080! This is far beyond our wildest expectations.

A lot of the hosts send in group photos from their screenings. We love looking at these! Three of them are attached below. There are more than 200 of these at An Island’s flickr photo page.

We also have a google map that offers a geographical overview of all the screenings. A small map can be seen below. A bigger one is available at

The Private-Public Screening project ends March 31st. As the sign-up process needs 11 days the last day to sign up to host a screening is on Saturday – March 19th. The capacity needs to be mininum 5 people and the event must be free. You can read a lot more about the rules and details at

If you would like to attend a screening you can find a list of all of them at

We recommend the screening on Sunday afternoon in Copenhagen March 20th. Peter Broderick will play live before the film screens and as a bonus Tape from Sweden will play a mini-concert after the film. We are hosting the event together with Filmmagasinet Ekko. Doors are at 15:00. Peter at 16:00. An Island at 17:00 and then Tape play a short set afterwards. Tickets are 30 kroner at the door. You can also buy a ticket at Efterklang’s concert March 18th in Amager Bio.
