More Music! festival has dedicated a whole day of their program to Efterklang.

Come and join us in Brugge, Belgium on April 8th 2016.

They are calling it REVERBERATIONS: An Evening with Efterklang.

We are bringing the entire LEAVES team for a concert version performance of the opera that we co-composed with Karsten Fundal.

Our other band Liima, that we share with Tatu Rönkkö, will also be performing and there will be screenings of the films An Island (by Vincent Moon & Efterklang) and The Ghost of Piramida (by Andread Koefoed & Efterklang).

LEAVES premiered at Copenhagen Opera Festival July 2015 in co-production with Sort/Hvid. The opera is composed by Karsten Fundal and Efterklang and features English lyrics by Ursula Andkjær Olsen. All 16 original performances took place in a abandoned hospital / cold-war bunker and were completely sold-out.

The performance at More Music will be a concert version of Leaves, with the same team of singers and musicians from the Copenhagen performances.

Singers: Lisbeth Balslev (soprano) – Morten Grove Frandsen (counter tenor) – Katinka Fogh Vindelev (soprano) – Nicolai Elsberg (bass) – Casper Clausen (Efterklang)

Musicians: Mads Brauer (electronics, Efterklang) – Rasmus Stolberg (bass, Efterklang) – Bjarke Mogensen (accordion) – Jenny Lüning (viola) – Josefine Weber (viola) – Marie Louise Lind (cello) – Josefine Opsahl (cello) – Ying-Hsueh Chen (percussion) – Sara Nigard Rosendal (percussion) – Michael Min Knudsen (organ)

When Liima played at Le Guess Who? a few weeks ago they also recorded a session for 3VOOR12.

Watch them perform ‘Amerika’, ‘Your Heart’ and ‘Trains in the Dark’ via YouTube:

February 28th 2014 we performed a unique concert together with Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (South Denmark Philharmonic), Sønderjysk Pigekor (South Denmark Girls Choir), Hans Ek (conductor) and a string of special guests.

We invited Vincent Moon and his camera to join us on stage to document and interpret the concert in one long take. Today we are extremely proud to present his new film: EFTERKLANG: The Last Concert. It just premiered this morning on La Blogothèque.

The concert featured songs from our entire discography as well as unreleased and so far unknown Efterklang songs. The arrangements for the orchestra were made by Allan Gravgaard MadsenDaniel BjarnasonVan Dyke ParksKarsten FundalHans Ek and Missy Mazzoli.

Find the extensive credits for the film on the Youtube page for the film.

If you want to listen to the unedited audio recording of The Last Concert you can go here.

We called it The Last Concert, but we are indeed still here…

Andreas Koefoed’s The Ghost of Piramida Documentary Released Digitally!

October 1, 2013 by Rasmus

After more than 1000 screenings around the world since November last year THE GHOST OF PIRAMIDA has finally been released digitally.

Andreas Koefoed’s Efterklang film is available for online renting (3,70€) or download (11€) via Vimeo’s new on-demand service.

In The Ghost Of Piramida director Andreas Koefoed follows Efterklang on their 9 day audio expedition to the ghost town Piramida on Spitsbergen, located just a thousand kilometers from the North Pole and home to more polar bears than people.

Accompanied by their taciturn and not visibly impressed Russian polar bear guard, the group goes on a treasure hunt in the empty buildings of the ghost town, while the narrator, the former Piramida-citizen Alexander, takes us back to a bygone era, when Piramida flourished and the immigrant Russian miners and their families lived in a Soviet parallel society far from the brutal reality of their homeland.

Efterklang collected over a thousand sound recordings for the album ‘Piramida’ (4AD, Sep 2012) they later wrote and recorded in Berlin.

The music in the film incorporates some of the early sketches, as well as finished songs from the album.

Private-Public Screenings of The Ghost of Piramida – Sign Up Today + New Trailer

January 29, 2013 by Rasmus

We are thrilled to announce that from February 8th to March 24th 2013 everyone is invited to host their own screening of THE GHOST OF PIRAMIDA, the new Efterklang film by Andreas Koefoed.

Already from today you can sign up to host a Private-Public Screening via

Last time we ran the Private-Public Screenings project almost 1.200 people hosted their own screening of An Island, our collaborative film with Vincent Moon. We still look back at that and consider it one of the most fun and interesting times we’ve had as a band. We are now hoping to repeat this and we welcome all of you to host a screening of The Ghost of Piramida.

The rules are very simple. In order to host a screening, each event must adhere to the following:

• The screenings need to be free entry
• The screenings need to be public
• The screenings need to have a minimum capacity of 5 people
• The screenings need to be verified by Efterklang & Andreas Koefoed (only screenings that are featured on are official Private-Public Screenings)

In other words as long as the host is a private person, entrance is free and it is an open event (as capacity permits) the Private-Public Screenings can take place at a home, at a café, in a school auditorium – basically, anywhere.

Those planning to host screenings in their own homes will be able to have full control over who can attend.

If you are interested in hosting a Private-Public Screening of The Ghost of Piramida then visit: You can also find much more information about the screenings in there.

Today we can also present the trailer for The Ghost of Piramida. We hope that you’ll like it:
