Leaf 20 box set – Celebrating 20 years of The Leaf Label

November 17, 2015 by Rasmus

In recognition of 20 years loyal service to releasing beautiful noise, our former label the Leaf Label presents an extremely limited deluxe vinyl box set featuring ten landmark albums from across their back catalogue. Our album Parades from 2007 is one of the chosen albums that will be featured in this beautiful release alongside great albums by Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Caribou, Susuma Yokota and more.

The Leaf 20 box is comprised of fourteen pieces of pristine white vinyl in full artwork and wrapped in bespoke, hand-printed paper covers, accompanied by the ten albums on CD, plus a fold out catalogue artwork poster, a limited edition print, and liner notes by acclaimed writer and journalist Rob Young. All painstakingly curated and assembled by label founder Tony Morley in collaboration with Leeds design studio Split, this is the finest Leaf document money can buy. Limited to only 300 copies, The Leaf 20 box is available to pre-order now through Pledge Music.

The Leaf Label also recently reissued our debut album Tripper (2004) on vinyl. You can buy that one here.

Hail DR Underholdnings Orkestret – Thank you and Goodbye

September 8, 2014 by Rasmus

In 2008 we were invited by The Danish National Chamber Orchestra (DR UnderholdningsOrkestret) to perform our newly released album Parades in its entirety.

DR Underholdnings Orkestret took a big chance inviting us back then and we are forever grateful. Their trust have since led to a total of 30 collaborative concerts with 14 different orchestras around the world.

Today DR (Danish Radio) announced that the orchestra will be shut down by the end of the year.

This makes us very sad and disillusioned as well. In Denmark DR Underholdnings Orkestret has been going forward in trying to rethink and change the idea of what an orchestra is and what role it can play in our time.

Budget cuts are never easy and sacrifices have to be made. In a year where DR has burned millions and millions on a Eurovision TV show and for the 8th year in a row spends millions on producing the X-Factor TV show it is however hard to not get pissed off.

HAIL to the beautiful people in DR Underholdnings Orkestret.
THANK you all!

Here is a document from that concert back in 2008. It holds a special place in our hearts.

We would like to use this opportunity to thank The Danish National Chamber Orchestra & Karl Bjerre Skibsted, Benjamin Hesselholdt & and his film crew, Ralf Christensen and Anders Bøtter, Hvass&Hannibal & all their helpers, Jesper Andersen and not least Karsten Fundal for breathing new life into our songs. These people have worked tremendously hard and great on this project and we are very thankful to them and to the many others that have helped who we didn’t list here.

Performing Parades can be found on iTunes and on other digital outlets, but we recommend the physical version. This is the only way to get the DVD which includes the Performing Parades concert film and the Recreating Parades documentary film and also 7 music videos from the original Parades album.

You can buy Performing Parades on CD+DVD or LP+DVD via The Leaf Label’s shop or via Efterklang’s own webshop.

The Mirador Video hits 1.000.000 views on Youtube!

June 28, 2009 by Barnabas

Wow, what a nice surprise! Today we realized that the music video for our song Mirador just hit the 1.000.000 views mark on Youtube, with no cheating involved:) That never happened for any other Efterklang video before, so this feels kind of special!

The video was made by our good friends Hvass & Hannibal & UFEX, who also did the cover art for our album Parades which Mirador belongs to. Thank you both so much!!!

If you haven’t watched it yet, you can do it right here

With love from a sunny Copenhagen
Thomas, Mads, Rasmus, Casper

PS. Also, the two amazing kids Molly & Jojo from America did a wonderful remake of the video

Can’t wait for tomorrow:)

Tomorrow/today (Friday, September 26th), is the big concert day! We’ll perform Parades from start till end with the National Danish Chamber Orchestra, and we’ve been looking forward to this for a long long time…

During the this week we’ve been rehearsing with the orchestra, and today we played the entire concert for the first time; an amazing experience!!! Besides the musical joy, it’s such a great pleasure following the process of the incredible scenography by Hvass&Hannibal and the magical light setting!!!

Apparently, both concerts are sold out, so we can only welcome those of you who already bought a ticket. Hopefully we’ll get another chance to do this sometime in the future…

Much love from all of us
